Scrolling through Instagram for 2024 inspiration, we were instantly drawn to Emily B. @Aviantime and her stylish takes on female watch choices through her eyes and lens. The moment we saw her post featuring the Baltic MR01, with its warm salmon dial, it made us see watch collectors in a new light. The tipping point was seeing Emily flashing her Seiko Lordmatic, the distinct case from the Akira Yoshikawa era was unmistakable. We must work with her!
The Baltic MR01 warm salmon hue and guilloché textured dial evoke classic elegance, while Breguet numerals add historical sophistication. What made it particularly attractive is the slim micro-rotor movement, a sight that has not been commonly offered in the affordable category until then. This filled our imaginations with what combinations we can work with Emily.
Emily’s adventure for impeccable photography and wrist poses shines in her posts. On the New Year of 2025, she shared her excitement over a Grey Spanish Lizard strap from @rsmwatchstrap: “
If you’ve been paying even a little bit of attention, then you know I love the BOR on this watch (Baltic MR01). But after being sent this lovely Grey Spanish Lizard strap from @rsmwatchstrap I think I can safely say I love it equally on this strap… This strap makes the Baltic feel like an additional watch in my collection. Why choose between the bracelet and the strap when you can have both, right?
It is the surprise of how a new leather strap can give a completely different personality to a watch that makes swapping straps so satisfying. The vertical grain on the grey lizard leather gives modern and classic dials a fresh experience, unlike circular grains that give a different perception altogether.
The Tudor BB58 was arguably the most popular watch launched in Basel world in 2018 based on vintage models made in the 1950’s. The 39mm case, gilt accents and no crown guards was a big hit. Emily dons one and we have an ultra matchy Black canvas strap with khaki accent for it.
By contrast, female Grammers are far more experimental and expressive with their outfits compared to our male counterparts. Just look at this stunning expression of the wrist shot with the gold, velvety top. The black canvas, khaki accent, gilt dial and an expressive hand pose ties everything together. A strong background in dance where one is trained to perform through the body right down to the fingertips have enabled this alluring set up – perfection don’t you think? It is no wonder that she is so confident with her hands and body.
Seeing this canvas strap on her wrist for months in her posts, we are certain we have done a few things right. The lengths, make and aesthetics have lived up to this legendary watch and her delight.
This story isn’t complete without the Seiko Lordmatic (LM) linen dial. Admittedly, we have a difficult time trying to focus on the watch and not the jealousy of her tattoo artist.
The vintage LM was positioned above the Seiko 5 and below Grand Seiko, Lord Matic models were known for their refined case finishing, higher-grade movements, and stylish dial designs. Among collectors, the “Silver Linen” 5216-8020 Special (produced 1975–1976) is highly sought after for its sharp, faceted case design, superior regulation, and textured silver-grey dial. Often gracing her posts on #fancywatchfriday, our ox blood lizard strap gave this watch a new definition. Strong, refined with an air of absolute class!
We cannot be more proud to partner Emily with her love for watches and photography by curating watch bands for her. Do give @Aviantime a follow for more exciting watch posts. We always find surprises and interesting conversations in her comments among the watch community.
