Over the years, I've grown to love the beauty of leather straps. They create a level of luxury for any and all watches, and add so much comfort to the wearing experience. Now, standard leather straps can be worn for any occasion, but the straps I'm talking about today are the newest release from RSM Watch Strap: their new Embossed Circular Alligator Leather straps.
I've had the opportunity to experience the previous Alligator Leather Straps, and comfortable is an understatement. For those unaware, Alligator is a very prestigious material used often by high-end Swiss or German watch manufacturers to add an additional luxury component to an already beautiful and luxurious watch. I've recently stepped into the world of dress watches, coming from tool watches, and my Accutron 1969 "412" re-issue is a fantastic example of how these straps bring out even more beauty.
The standard Alligator Leather straps are aesthetically beautiful, comfortable, and heighten the wearing experience, but the Embossed Circular Alligator Leather straps introduce another aspect: texture, depth, and even more detail for the eyes. Due to its embossed nature, I notice the Embossed Circular Alligator Leather straps feel more supple, maybe even a tad thinner, but that could be my love creating a partially biased opinion; these are some of, if not the, most comfortable and beautiful straps I've had the opportunity to check out.
Not only are they beautiful, but the thought behind their functionality and craftsmanship are what sets the Embossed Circular Alligator Leather above the rest of the straps out there. Many leather straps are padded and can feel cumbersome and not the best wearing experience until they're broken in; not the case with these. Right out of the package, they're beyond comfortable to wear and form to the wrist almost instantly. Sure, there's a slight break-in period, especially with a durable textile like Alligator Leather, but it breaks in after only a few short hours; beyond impressive.
I want to keep my focus on the lack of strap padding for a second. Since there isn't any and it's a sleek 4mm thin, there isn't much room for the strap to wear or tarnish the details on the strap. Most padded leather straps will begin to fray and tatter the longer you wear them, and the padding adds additional stress, making it look dishevelled and unappealing after a couple of years of consistent use—not just regular patina, clear signs of stress and unnecessary wear and tear. RSM Watch Strap removed the padding to not only create the thinnest strap possible, but to take away additional stress from consistent wear, reliably keeping the details of the leather intact for as long as possible; if you take care of the strap, it will last and stay beautiful for years to come.
