Watches to Love: Dress and Sports watches

RSM’s interest took our connections to people around the globe. Kevin W. from  @watchestolove has some of the most alluring watch photos on IG and it helps that he has some of the best toys to play with! The lighting and compositions are so well controlled one wonders about what he does professionally.

There are collectors that sticks to a genre while others only collects a particular brand. Some stay within the tool watch range while the opposite spectrum stays within the dress watch’s category. Kevin W’s interest spans across dress to sports to tool watches, mid to high end watches. It is the convergence of all these interests under his lens that made his IG account so exciting!

When Instagram’s algorithm was favoring reels over still shots, Kevin simply stayed with impeccable still shots over mediocre videos. When many feel frustrated over our reach during the changes, he continued to post only one shot at a time unless there was a need to add a carousel of images. He is truly showing only Watches to Love – Nothing else.

Dress Watches

If simplicity and legibility is your preference, the A. lange & söhne 1815 might edge over its more famous sibling, the Lange 1. If wearing the Lange 1 invites envy, wearing Lange 1815’s purpose is just to savour the watch. Similarly, RSM’s art deco silk strap in blue seen here is not the regular crocodile strap choice on Haute Horology. Woven in pure silk and in leather on its lug end detail, the refined motif and symmetrical strap sits especially well on the elegant 1815.

One of Glashutte’s finest, the familiar Lange 1 (with moon phase) comes in this gold case embodies the definition of tradition and craftsmanship. Call it an heirloom piece or a lifetime watch, the Lange 1 series carries the weight of these labels. Since its debut in 1994, the Lange 1’s asymmetric dial, outsize date, and balanced negative space have remained virtually unchanged — a sign of design perfection. The gold/white combination reinforces that permanence, avoiding trends and ensuring it looks as relevant decades from now as it does today.

Imagine a black, grey or brown strap holding this heavy weight. It just wouldn’t do the job. Not even lighter shade of blue. This mid night blue Alligator strap carries the legacy and gold in the smartest fashion.

The discussion on classic dress watches is incomplete without the Cartier Tank. It is puzzling why such a delicate dress watch is named after an absolute brute machine. What truly captured attention was the unexpected pairing of refined watchmaking with a rugged detail—the clever translation of Renault tank tracks running along the sides of the case—an idea so distinctive it quickly became a hit. It further enhances the form by extending the sides to its lugs making it look like a tank from the top view.

This particular Tank Louis Large with 19mm lugs in gold is often seen with Alligator strap. The leaf motif in the background resonates with the natural scales of the lizard motif. Kevin picked our black, vertical grain lizard strap for this classic piece. It brought out a surprising personality of the familiar face. Something we do not mind taking a seconf and third glance.

Sports Watches

Nomos Glashütte occupies a rare middle ground between dress and sport watches, blending Bauhaus-inspired minimalism with a versatile elegance that works across casual and formal settings. When someone commits to procuring a watch from this company, you know that they are in the know. Possibly the best value for money in terms of superior in-house movement (and not just for the sake or marketing plot). The clean German engineering is its DNA and its branding.

This is the Nomos Ahoi Atlantik Blue in 36mm is fitted with our Veneto Beige Epsom Leather strap. Its consistent duo grain ties beautifully with its slim, Arabic numerals and gold hands allowing them to float above the midnight blue dial!

The Zenith El Primero Chronomaster 38mm with RSM's Light Blue Fine Canvas watch strap offers a fresh look, enhancing the red chrono seconds against a book backdrop.

Kevin almost single handedly converted us into Zenith’s El Primero fans. The Zenith Chronomaster Original 38mm with its three-coloured subdials celebrates the 1969 A386 and the legendary El Primero high-frequency movement. Its balanced dial and tri-tone sub dials registers enhance both legibility and design heritage. In today’s market, the 38mm case size is increasingly appreciated for its elegant proportions, wrist comfort, and timeless appeal, marking a return to classic sizing after decades of oversized trends.

Seen here, the Chronomaster is fitted with RSM’s fine canvas straps. We are guessing that the Chronomaster has a sporty yet classic feel about it and it is instinctive to pair it with our tightly woven canvas straps.

Kevin W.’s lens brings out the character of every watch, from refined dress pieces to sporty legends. His focus on detail and timeless photography makes each shot unforgettable.

Stay tuned. Our next blog will dive even deeper into his world tool of watches.
